How Are The Gardens Maintained?
Rain gardens need regular maintenance to stay in good condition. This includes weeding, dead heading and replacing dead plants, and watering them in hot weather. The gardens also suffer from littering, which needs removing as well as dog mess and general damage.
Community Volunteers
Although installed by the London Borough of Waltham Forest, Coppermill rain gardens are not maintained by them. Instead, they depend upon the involvement of local people – a supported network of active volunteers is essential for keeping the rain gardens in good condition.
Each rain garden is overseen by a group of volunteers. We are always looking for more help so please get involved - everyone is welcome.
